Profuse sweating - hyperhydrosis - will often manifest itself as sweaty hands or palms or profuse armpit perspiration. Profuse and excessive sweating (perspiration) is also called hyperhidrosis (sometimes misspelled hyperhydrosis) and it is when you are sweating more than your body needs for cooling itself down. Hyperhydrosis is a difficult social disorder and although it has serious implications and is very difficult to live with, most patients actually never seek medical advice for their excessive sweating disorder. Excessive and profuse perspiration can either be affecting the whole body, or it can be limited to areas like sweaty palms, armpits or feet (soles). Hyperhydrosis can be intermittent, or it can affect you more or less on a constant basis. Hyperhidrosis (hyperhydrosis) will often first appear during of after puberty. |
